Content Gap Analysis: How to Steal Your Competitor's Traffic

Your competitor gets traffic from keywords you've never heard of. Content gap analysis finds those keywords so you can build pages and capture the same demand.

Content gap analysis compares the keywords your competitor ranks for against yours — and highlights topics where they have pages and you don't. It's the fastest way to build a content roadmap that actually drives traffic.

How content gap analysis works

  1. Identify your top 1–3 competitors
  2. Extract keywords they rank for (top 10 on Google)
  3. Compare against your rankings
  4. Filter to keywords with business value (not irrelevant traffic)
  5. Prioritize gaps where they rank #1–5 and you don't appear
  6. Build one page per high-priority gap keyword

Content gap vs keyword gap

Keyword gap = they rank, you don't. Content gap = they have a page covering a topic, you have nothing. Often the same thing, but content gap also catches topic clusters — a competitor might have 10 pages about "SSC exams" while you have zero.
